Panel & Session Details

9 AM - 11:30 AM | Panel: Climate Action, Sustainability, and Energy Transition Planning

Join panelists and topic experts for a discussion of climate action, sustainability, and energy transition options and projects for municipalities to consider. Individual topics will include EV transition BPs, multi-municipal clean energy strategic planning, climate action through DEP’s LCAP program, solar PPAs, and more.

1 PM - 2:30 PM: First Breakout Session

Option 1: MS4 Permit Pollution Reduction Plans & Projects to Reduce TMDL
This session will cover topics ranging from starting and managing an EAC or NGO rain garden program, updates to model ordinances, and more.

Option 2: Land Development and Conservation
This session will cover an  Conservation by Design ordinances as well as an overview of the Conservation Subdivision Design Guide.

3 PM - 4:30 PM: Second Breakout Session

Option 1: Waste Reduction and Recycling
This session will include an introduction to the SEPA Single Use Plastics Coalition, an update of its activities, progress, and goals. Also included will be presentations on passing a successful plastic bag ban, community composting, zero waste planning, and available infrastructure funding for solid waste management and recycling.

Option 2: Invasive/Nuisance Species and Native Plants
This session will cover the identification and management of invasive and nuisance species in Pennsylvania, including online tools available to municipalities, as well as concrete examples of how to effectively use native species in municipal landscaping projects. Also covered will be an overview of statewide ordinances, and a discussion of climate impacts on species composition.

Other Events

Electric Car Show
From 9 AM – 4:30 PM, during breaks in educational activities, join members of the Haverford EAC, Haverford Township (and others) in the parking lot for a display of various types and makes of electric vehicles. If you’ve ever been interested in an EV, this is your opportunity to see what is out there and talk to owners regarding their experiences. If you have an unusual electric vehicle that you are willing to display and discuss with other attendees, come early and park in the display area. If you plan to participate with your EV, please reach out to [email protected] so we can keep track of the number of vehicles we will need to accommodate.

Tour of CREC Bioswales
After lunch, from 12:15PM – 12:45PM, join Eileen Mottola for a short tour and discussion of the CREC’s bioswales. Interested participants should gather at the front entrance of the CREC by 12:15PM.
