SUMMARY:GIS Options for Environmental Advisory Councils
DESCRIPTION:From inventorying tree cover\, to managing invasive species; from mapping riparian buffers\, floodplains\, recharge areas and other water-related resources\, to inventorying municipal open space areas to improve management\, Geographic Information System (GIS) is a powerful tool that can be used for environmental management and protection.  And\, with improvements in technology\, the tools needed to put GIS to work can be found in your pocket.  Many of the most popular software systems and tools are available free or as low-cost versions\, and the number of publicly available data sets has also increased. There is no cost to attend. \n		Register\n \nPresenters:\nThis session will include two short presentations\, followed by time for open discussion. First\, WeConservePA GIS Analyst Irina Beal will cover tools and datasets\, and how WeConservePA may be able to assist. Then\, Ian Kindle with the City of Easton EAC will detail how their project evolved. The EAC\, noticing unintended and underutilized green spaces within the city\, began to undertake a comprehensive inventory of public and private greenspaces utilizing ESRI products such as ArcGIS and Survey123. Their long-term goals are to prioritize the environmental benefit of these greenspaces\, including sustainable maintenance\, and the beautification of the community.

He has worked for both the Pennsylvania Game Commission and DCNR. He will share up-to-date information on available technology\, review training and licensing requirements\, and address ecological concerns around drone use. DESCRIPTION:Join WeConservePA and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Director of Policy and Planning\, Nicole Faraguna\, for a review and discussion of DCNR’s recently released draft e-bike policy. The policy (PDF)\, once adopted\, will allow e-bikes to be used on DCNR-managed trails anywhere that traditional bikes are allowed. State forest roads and trails that are not open to biking will also prohibit e-bike use. This is a chance for interested stakeholders to review the policy and ask questions before submitting public comment. Written comments on the draft e-bike policy can be submitted to RA-NR_PolicyOffice@pa.gov. The deadline to submit comments is Aug. 31. \n  \n		Register
