The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation builds connections between citizens and the outdoors through recreation enhancement, natural resource conservation, and community revitalization efforts. The bureau partners with communities and organizations across Pennsylvania to provide grants and technical assistance support for local recreation projects, trails and greenways, heritage areas, open space, river conservation, and environmental education programs.

This internship will assist the Bureau of Recreation and Conservation’s (BRC) Education and Outreach Program by contributing to the development of promotional, educational, and guidance materials in a variety of media. This position also assists in organizing BRC events and trainings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Employment Period:  May 1, 2023 – August 25, 2023
  • Work hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: Interns will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time on a schedule that aligns with their supervisor so they are in the office on the same days. No full time telework will be approved. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you must report to the office.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Internship Requirements:

  • Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor’s degree, associate/2-year tech program or advanced degree program in an acceptable major.
  • Freshman year completed.
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.

Additional Requirements: 

  • This internship requires a valid driver’s license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Students in the following majors:
    • Communications
    • Graphic Design
    • Environmental Science
