The Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist is tasked with providing support to the Director of Communications and Marketing to develop, design, and produce visual materials in support of all Willistown Conservation Trust (WCT) activities, including print, website, video, and social media. The Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist also collaborates with and provides creative support to the Development and Events staff, as well as other Program staff, as needed.
A Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist is expected to be a strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail, who works well under pressure, and consistently meets deadlines. She/he/they will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment. To ensure success, the Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist should be innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages to key internal and external audiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Together with the Outreach Team (C&M, Development, Events), participate in the coordination of all communications across all channels (snail mail, web, email, hard copy, social media, in-person events, etc.)
- Support the defined communications strategy, which articulates WCT’s use of all communications channels.
- Research and write press releases, articles for media outlets, content for the organization’s website, infographics, blogs, fundraising and event material, newsletters, and e-blasts.
- Edit a variety of communications, including articles for WCT’s newsletter, e-blasts, fundraising material, blog posts, and scientific documentation.
- Promote and advertise WCT events across a variety of channels, including print and digital media, as well as social media.Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas in line with the organization’s mission and in support of various brand initiatives.
- Create a variety of print materials for the organization, including but not limited to booklets, pamphlets, postcards, and posters.
- Support and evaluate results of communication and fundraising campaigns, as well as major events, with the team. This includes analyzing the effectiveness of different communication strategies and providing insights for future campaigns.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists and key external partners. This involves pitching stories, coordinating interviews, and ensuring positive relationships with the media and other external stakeholders.
- Photograph and edit footage of various WCT events, preserves, and activities.
Assist with the production and editing of video content, including creating new video material as well as editing existing videos and recorded virtual events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional
- Passion for working in a mission-driven organization.
- A bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in communications strategy development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Content writing experience for all media platforms.
- Proven social media and networking expertise.
- Strategic and creative mindset.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- A portfolio of work available for review.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite software.
- Proficiency with Canva.
- Proficiency with web content management platforms, specifically WordPress.
- Experience with email marketing software.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office software.

- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to both lead and work collaboratively in a flexible team environment.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of conservation and/or sustainability issues is a plus.
Hours: Approximately 37.5 hours/week (occasional weekends and evenings)

The mission of the Willistown Conservation Trust is to preserve the open land, rural character, scenic, historic and ecologically significant resources of the Willistown area and nearby communities, with particular emphasis on the Crum, Ridley and Darby Creek watersheds.
