Healing Mine Scarred Landscapes Via Reforestation

Quantified Ventures is operational lead on a project led by the US Endowment for Forestry and Communities that was selected for funding by the USDA Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). The project will reforest privately-owned legacy mine lands in the Appalachian region leveraging private capital and carbon market revenues. In partnership with the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and Green Forests Work, we will engage with and select landowners, plan and manage the tree planting program, raise financing, and generate and sell carbon credits. In addition to sequestering carbon, the restored forest ecosystems will also benefit wildlife, including golden-winged warbler and American woodcock.

Program Coordinator Responsibilities

As a key member of the Quantified Ventures team, the Program Coordinator will play an instrumental role in all areas of the RCPP project. We envision the Program Coordinator joining Quantified Ventures starting in March 2022, working on the reforestation initiative 25-30 hours per week over the project term, with key responsibilities including:

  • Management and coordination of efforts by QV and our partners to identify, select and contract with landowners
  • Management and coordination of the silviculture activities of our partners
  • Contract management, including with the project lead and QV partners
  • USDA performance reporting
