The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee and WeConservePA have published the 2023 Trails Annual Report.
This annual report documents many of the major accomplishments relating to the trail community during 2023. This year’s report highlights 2020 – 2024 Pennsylvania Land and Water Trail Network Strategic Plan accomplishments, regional project highlights, as well as an update to progress made on the Top 10 Trail Gaps. Friends from Michaux State Forest share how this 87,000-acre forest – providing opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, hunting, ATV riding, and more – is working to balance the needs of the forest ecosystem with trails and recreation through trail assessments, trail designations, and various projects and outreach activities. Finally, a growing list of resources included in this report includes new guidelines for shared use paths released by the US Access Board in the fall of 2023.
