WeConservePA and the programming committee for the 2025 Pennsylvania Greenways & Trails Summit (September 21 – 23, Harrisburg) announced their selection for keynote speaker:
Julie Judkins of Just-Trails.
Julie Judkins is Founder of Just-Trails, a consulting practice dedicated to regenerating nature and communities through the connective power of trails. Julie develops signature programming to mobilize communities and young people to take action as land stewards. She consults for and with unique communities and trail organizations around the world, supporting inclusive trail design, engagement, and management through technical assistance to build capacity for regenerative outdoor assets.
In North Carolina, Julie coordinates the Great State Trails Coalition, a statewide alliance of nonprofits, local governments, and industry partners advocating for increased public investment ($61M so far!) in all types of trails—across all 100 counties.
Previously, Julie served as Education and Outreach Director for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, where she created award-winning education initiatives, youth programs, and community partnerships. She continues her service to trails through leadership roles on the boards of the Partnership for the National Trails System and the World Trails Network, and as a maintainer with the Carolina Mountain Club.
Julie brings a global perspective to her work, having served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Armenia and worked with opportunity youth at Outward Bound. She has a BA from NC State University and a Master of Environmental Management through Duke’s Nicholas School of Environment. When not advocating for inclusive trails systems – or maintaining them – she can be found gardening, cooking, or paddling down the river with her son.
