Thanks to help from community leaders and supporters, Allegheny Land Trust is on its way to conserve more than 400 acres across Collier Township, Hampton Township, the Municipality of Monroeville, the City of Pittsburgh, Ross Township, and South Fayette Township.

Panhandle Greenway Conservation Project – CONSERVED!

160 Acres in South Fayette

At the year’s end, we successfully closed on a 160-acre parcel, which is the second complete phase of the Panhandle Greenway Conservation Project! This years-long, landscape-scale effort will create an ecological, recreational, and place-making greenway unlike any in the region. Keep an eye on this newsletter and our website as we’ll announce the next phase of this project soon.

Ross Conservation Project – CONSERVED!

27 Acres in Ross Township

Together in partnership with Ross Township, North Hills and Shaler Area High School sustainability students, and supporters like you, we successfully raised the funds needed to conserve this land! Its protection expands Ross’ municipal park and promotes stormwater absorption in the flood-vulnerable Girty’s Run Watershed. Ownership of this land will be transferred to Ross Township for permanent conservation.

Deer Creek Conservation Project – IN PROGRESS

266 Acres in Indiana Township

Since launching this effort in 2024, we have come a long way with the help of the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC), the Rachel Carson Trail Conservancy, and community members like you. Thus far, we’ve raised 90% of the funds needed to conserve this land!  We need your support to successfully conserve this special green space hosting 1 mile of the Rachel Carson Trail! We hope you’ll consider donating to this effort ahead of our March 31, 2025 deadline.
