Codorus Watershed Endowment of York County Community Foundation has awarded York County Rail Trail Authority a $20,000 grant to support the design and permitting for restoration of two sections of Oil Creek in Heidelberg Township, York County, that parallel the recently acquired dormant rail line.
The funds will serve as a required match to a PA Department of Environmental Protection grant application and will greatly assist in the Authority’s ability to garner state funding for the restoration. In addition to stabilizing the adjacent rail corridor, the project will improve water quality, aquatic habitat, recreational use of the waterway, and productivity of nearby agricultural lands.
