Following the recommendations in the 2021 Oil Creek Restoration Plan, the York County Rail Trail Authority has entered into a second contract with LandStudies of Lititz, PA, to begin design and environmental permitting to restore two severely impaired sections of the creek. This work is funded through grants from the PA Department of Environmental Protection and the Codorus Watershed Endowment and made possible through the generous consent of several landowners adjacent to the creek and rail line. Improvements to the creek are being designed to improve water quality as well as productivity of surrounding agricultural lands, while protecting the rail corridor from future storm events that would inhibit construction of the future rail trail.
