Information release provided by Trail Nation Collaborative, a project of Rails to Trails Conservancy, 5/9/2024.

Rails to Trails Conservancy has opened applications for this year’s RTC Trail Grants Program! This year, RTC will award grants between $5,000 and $25,000 to support organizations working to create a more inclusive trail experience nationwide. Application Deadline, June 9 at 11:59PM EST.

At RTC, we believe that every person—regardless of race, gender, geography, income, age, ability, sexual orientation or expression, or other minority status—deserves access to free, accessible and safe places where they can walk, bike and be active. This year’s grant program is intended to support those organizations that are working to transform communities and create joyful, vibrant public spaces through investment in equity, infrastructure and participation.

The Trail Grants program is open to nonprofit organizations, and state, regional, local or tribal government agencies supporting larger regional trail and active-transportation systems. This year’s program maintains two grant types: community support grants and project transformation grants. We encourage organizations working with historically disadvantaged communities to apply.

To apply, please review this year’s application guidelines and prepare a grant application worksheet before applying online. Please ensure that your project supports RTC’s commitment to equity and can be tied to an element of the TrailNation Playbook. A project map will be required. Examples of eligible projects can be found on our Trail Grants web page.

Since 2008, RTC has provided nearly $3 million in grant funding to more than 225 organizations seeking to connect and create vibrant, joyful, impactful outdoor spaces.
