Public voting is now open for the 2024 Pennsylvania River of the Year.

You can vote for the 2024 River of the Year on the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR) website. The nominees are:
  • the Allegheny River,
  • Lackawaxen River, and
  • Youghiogheny River.

Nominees were based on each waterway’s conservation needs, successes, and programming plans if awarded. Voting is open through 5:00 P.M. Friday, January 19, 2024.

Presented annually since 1983, the River of the Year award includes a $10,000 leadership grant from DCNR to help fund events to celebrate the river, including a paddling trip.
The River of the Year program is supported with funding from the Environmental Stewardship Fund.
