WeConservePA made its first Conservation Easement Assistance Program (CEAP) grants in 2004 thanks to support from DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation and the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund. Twenty years later, CEAP’s small grants have helped with planning exemplary easements conserving 30,044 acres and are supported by $3,241,872 in stewardship contributions.
The Conservation Easement Assistance Program provides grants to help organizations plan and complete conservation, trail, and other public access easements in Pennsylvania. WeConservePA makes awards of up to $8,000 per easement project. Through the program, WeConservePA seeks to increase the quantity of easements completed and special places protected and also increase the quality and long-term viability of easements. The program has helped organizations deliver outstanding results:
- Completion of 395 conservation and trail easement projects
- Donation of $61.76 million in real estate value by landowners
- Completion of projects representing $103,215,945 in total investments
- Completion of 22 amendments and restatements of older easements
- Increased stewardship endowment funding of $3.24 million
