Land Acquisition and Stewardship Gathering: Pittsburgh
General
Connect with dozens of conservation colleagues for a day of presentations and discussions addressing land acquisitions and stewardship. The agenda will be substantially shaped by you. You are strongly encouraged to suggest topics, concerns, and questions you would like to see addressed at the gathering. Do so on the registration form or by emailing Andy Loza any time.
Tentative Agenda (detail will be added as it becomes available)
8:30 am – 9:30 am | Check-in, coffee, refreshments, and casual conversation
9:30 am – 10:30 am | Locking Down Land Acquisitions (or at least getting a foot in the door)
Purchase option, sales agreement: what’s the difference? How do you craft one or the other to best address your interests? For the landowner not yet willing to sell, how can you ensure that you will get a chance at a property before it goes to another? This session addresses these questions, explores the experiences of attendees, and reviews model documents WeConservePA provides to assist.
10:30 am – 10:45 am | Break
10:45 am – 12:00 pm | Conserving Forests in Perpetuity
Annie Maloney and Guy Dunkle of Foundation for Sustainable Forests and Andy Zadnik of Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will highlight their respective organizations’ land management strategies, philosophies, and business models for achieving biodiversity, ecosystem health, and potentially sustainable revenue for stewardship.
12:00 – 1:00 | Lunch (provided by WeConservePA)
Topics for discussion will be assigned to tables as shaped by the morning sessions and requests of registrants to address specific topics, issues, concerns, and scenarios.
