River Network Releases Federal Funding Toolbox for Critical Water Projects

While we know that implementation of critical water projects and policies ultimately comes down to the local level, federal funding is an important resource, providing communities and cities with the dollars they need to carry out this important work. Historic federal funding made available via the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will help meet this need. However, improving and ensuring long-term access to these funding streams by communities that are most in need is essential. ACCESS THE TOOLBOX.

Susquehanna Riverlands Mini-Grants

Lancaster Conservancy and its partners announce that they are accepting applications through July for the 2024 Susquehanna Riverlands Conservation Landscape (SRCL) Mini-Grant Program. This program provides small competitive grants, ranging from $2,500 to $25,000, towards projects that advance the SRCL mission. More Information and APPLY.

Application Deadline: Monday, July 1, 2024 by 5 PM

The SRCL is a collaboration of communities and organizations working to protect land, steward natural and cultural resources, connect people with natural spaces, and promote sustainable economic development. Susquehanna Riverlands, which includes Lancaster and York counties, is one of eight conservation landscapes in Pennsylvania where partners work together to protect natural assets and improve quality of life for community members.

Are you proposing or working on a public-facing project in the SRCL that will improve habitat/trail connectivity, promote sustainable river access, benefit ecosystem health, or facilitate community partnership/collaboration? If yes, consider applying for a 2024 Mini-Grant! Among the many potential project ideas is funding to assist with hiring a consultant for professional services – including planning – before applying for a bigger implementation grant, interpretive or wayfinding signage, or accessibility improvements.

AmericaWalks Review of Federal Programs (shared by PA Downtown Center)

Back in March AmericaWalks hosted presenters from the Safe Routes Partnership, the League of American Bicyclists, and Smart Growth America for a webinar on federal funding options for safer streets. They focused on Safe Routes to School (SRTS), Transportation Alternatives (TAP/TASA), and the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Programs and provided good summaries of all the options (though it's important to remember that there are some variations from state to state in the way SRTS/TAP funding is deployed). AmericaWalks has assembled all the material nicely in one spot where you can read the blog post, view the webinar video recording, and check out each presenters' slides.

Rails to Trails Conservancy Releases FAQ and Resource Toolbox in Support of Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program (ATIIP) Grant Applications

The June 17 deadline for applications to the Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program is less than eight weeks away. We’ve packaged your questions and our answers into an FAQ resource to support you through the application process, but we also want to remind you that it is critical to carefully read the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). It is the official word on how to apply and how applications will be evaluated.

This new FAQ is among the resources RTC has available to support you through the process of applying for this new program. Check our ATIIP web page for the latest information, including recordings of past webinars. In addition, FHWA has made recordings of its webinars available, which is a great information source to capture the nuance of the application process.
