West Bradford Land Preservation & Sustainability Committee

Environmental Advisory Council

Mission or Purpose

This Committee is a seven-member advisory committee to the Board of Supervisors.  The members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors for terms of three years.  The members serve without compensation and must be residents of the Township. The responsibilities of this Committee include matters related to open space, land preservation and sustainability.  Sustainability can be described as avoiding depletion of natural resources in order to maintain a healthy ecological balance and meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs or health of future generations. Sustainability initiatives include activities such as tree planting along stream corridors, education programs teaching sustainability, investigating recycling methods, community reforestation efforts, energy conservation, and use of renewable energies.

A Sustainability Sub-committee has been formed to support and advise the Land Preservation and Sustainability Committee (LPSC) in identifying, advocating for, and implementing projects that work towards protecting the township’s natural resources while ensuring that West Bradford’s social and economic needs are met. The Sustainability Sub-committee assists the LPSC with developing recommendations for sustainable practices, supporting environmental education for residents, and encouraging related involvement in the community.
