A pedestrian bridge carrying the Schuylkill River Trail over Route 724 in Union Township has officially opened.

The crossing has been an issue for trail users for several years, who must walk down from the trail and cross the busy road. DCNR provided grant funding for the project. There are currently about 75 completed miles of the Schuylkill River Trail with plans to extend to 120 miles. The trail runs alongside the Schuylkill River and is a pathway to fun, recreational activities and sites.

The Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area is ample with attractions and historic places, many of which are accessible right from the trail.
